RowLeeds Indoor Rowing Championships, December 11th

With students from across the North competing in the unique event, we expect some very loud cheering, some record breakers, some pupils experiencing rowing for the first time (and wanting more!), some competitive teacher racing and some very happy, sweaty faces. Give back, and help us make this March's champs the best yet.

The following volunteering positions are now OPEN for our next event on the 11th December (Venue: LS11 5DJ). There are lots of different roles so get your application in early for the one that takes your fancy. More details and timings can be found below.

D1

Driver (Up)

We need a volunteer, with a valid driving licence to pick up 40 rowing machines from Nottingham on the 10th December. Vehicle and expenses are provided. You must at least 30 years of age.

D2

Driver (Down)

We need a volunteer, with a valid driving licence to drop off 40 rowing machines to Nottingham on the 12th December. Vehicle and expenses are provided. You must be at least 30 years of age.

The person volunteering for this role will be responsible for administering the @RowLeeds and @officialrowuk social media accounts for the event - posting exciting and informative updates before, during and after the racing, from 14:00 - 19:00 on the 11th December.

We are looking for a professional photographer to take photos of the event, and the competitors, from 15:00 - 19:00 on the 11th December.

Here's your opportunity to MC at this event - get the crowds going, keep everyone up to date with race information and safety notices, help cheer on the rowers  and promote the RowLeeds programmes to schools. From 15:00 - 18:30 on the .

Registration Desk 

Working on the registration desk along with other volunteers, you will be responsible for ensuring all participants receive their race card. You will also be answering questions. Three roles required from 14:00 - 16:00 on 11th December.

REG3

Do you have experience working with the Concept2 rowing machine? We are looking for two volunteers to help us set up all of the equipment (wiring, testing) before the event starts. Required between 11:30 and 14:30 on 11th December.

Do you love photography and recording moments? We will be piecing together a video collage at the end of the event and are looking for a volunteer to capture the footage. A smart phone with a good camera is all you need. Required 15:00 - 18:30 on 11th December.

PH/V1

Our competitors love their school colours. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to paint stripes on faces. No skill or experience required! Required 14:30 - 16:30 on 11th December.

Seeking a budding journalist... We are looking for a volunteer to interview participants, volunteers, parents and teachers, get quotes and feedback. Some of these interviews may make it onto our social media channels or website. Required 14:00 - 18:00 on 11th December.

Responsible for the event as a whole on 11th December. Decider on any race disputes.

Race Floor Manager

The race floor manager runs the show! They are the gate keeper to the floor, coordinates results and communicates results with race control. The role is required from 14:00 - 18:30 on 11th December.

HP2

We are looking for volunteers to help participants as the enter the holding pen, checking race cards and then, when the time is right, letting competitors on to the race floor. A small warm up area is also provided so a couple of these volunteers may also be getting the competitors warmed up for their race! Required 14:00 - 18:30 on 11th December.

Results Runner

There's not too far to run, and a fast paced walk will suffice... this volunteering opportunity is about getting printed copies of the race results from race control to the results board. Required 15:00 - 18:30 on 11th December.

Want to be on the floor where the action is? We are looking for fifteen volunteers to support the racing, ensure safety and a "go" to race control, fill in race cards, ensure individuals are meeting racing rules, support the competitors and ensure easy exit from the floor. Required 14:00 - 18:30 on 11th December.

Are you interested in volunteering as an Event Manager at a future event? This volunteering opportunity is in direct support of the Event Manager so your role could be anything and everything on the day. Required 11:00 - 19:00 on 11th December.

Event Set Up

Only available at lunch? That's perfect as we require a few volunteers to help us set up the rowing machines, chairs etc. Required for an hour between 11:00 - 14:30 on 11th December.

Only available in the evening? That's perfect as we require a few volunteers to help us pack down and tidy up after the event. Required between 18:00 and 20:00 on 11th December.

Warm Up Coaches

Between 15:00 and 18:00 11th December., we allow competitors to warm up on out warm up ergs. But we want them to get a bit more. Are you a rower or rowing coach who could help these pupils get the most from their race?

Music keeps this event going! We are looking for a volunteer to manage our mixing deck, fading in and out and selecting the right music for the right mood throughout the event. Required 14:00 until 19:00 on 11th December.
